I wrote a book about RANKING, and now we are working with Zsuzsa Szvetelszky on an other book REPAIR: When and How to Improve Broken Objects, Ourselves, and Our Society
To me (a non-American) they seem to be just random books. I would never buy one of these from the shelves. Shows how little achievement matters in ranking – I mean, I am sure they could produce another list where I would recognize titles or authors. (Hahaha note that I was secretly assuming my list would be merit based). But I am not in the target group.
Thanks. Yes…. I spent now a year to understand how book market works. How does this list correlate with the numbers of sold copies… and what if… yes or no…
I found one of them worthy of a closer look: Word by Word by Kory Stamper. My first impressions are positive; I’ve put it on my reading list. (More or less saturated for the next five years…)
